How To Wear a Scarf as a Belt

There are times when you want to add a little "twist" to the traditional look of a belted slacks/blouse/jacket ensemble. By replacing the usual belt with a scarf in a complimentary color/pattern, you can create a flattering, and chic look.

Scarf Style Needed: Rectangular (oblong) Scarf (120 cm long)

Tying the Scarf:
Fold the rectangular scarf in half, twice, lengthwise. Thread the scarf through the belt loops of the pants (just as you would a traditional belt) and pull the belt to make sure the ends are even when fully threaded. Then, loop the scarf ends around one another and thread one end back through the loops on each side of the pants until they meet in the back.

At the back of the pants, tie the ends of the scarf into a knot and tuck any remaining ends back under the wrapped scarf. The result is a colorful alternative to the traditional belt.

This method can also be used as a belt-style tying of a scarf for simple dresses, and works well when tied in this manner at the hips.
